The Japanese porn star Riko Hoshino has announced her return to work after undergoing treatment for an adjustment disorder.
"I will resume my activities in mid-August and strive to meet everyone's expectations in the best possible way, while approaching each and every job with a sincere heart," she wrote in a statement released on social media.
In mid-June, we shared the news that the 27-year-old had been diagnosed with an adjustment disorder and was undergoing treatment.
Her mental health struggles were affecting her ability to promote her fifth print photo book, with events at bookstores ...
A few years ago, what seemed to be a sexual assault openly taking place on the streets of Shibuya during the Halloween cosplay party turned out to be an adult video production being film guerrilla-style among the actual crowds of bystanders.
Ah, those were the glory days before the pandemic and a crackdown destroyed Halloween in Shibuya, and before new porn legislation imposed stricter rules that have greatly increased production schedules.
Nonetheless, some bold types working in JAV still try their luck with seat-of-the-pants productions and edgy stunts, but the consequences are sometimes ...
It's sometimes easy to forget the Japanese porn stars are real people and that they work in a difficult environment.
The adult video star Riko Hoshino announced on June 17 that she has been diagnosed with adjustment disorder and is undergoing treatment.
The 27-year-old Hoshino had planned a release event for her fifth print photo book, To Leo, at two bookstores in Tokyo on the June 6, but these events were postponed due to poor health, and later canceled.
On her X account, she apologized and explained to fans the situation. "I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry. I'm afraid to appear in public ...
Last week, we reported on the arrest and deportation from Taiwan of porn star Mai Fujisaki, who had allegedly traveled there to engage in sex work.
Such cases are increasing (due to debts, the weak yen, and limited economic prospects in Japan), so much so that it is having serious repercussions for solo female travelers from East Asia, even if they are traveling for purely innocent purposes. Another story from last week was about porn star Yua Fukuda, who was detained at an airport in New Zealand, held for six hours, and then deported.
On June 12, Fukuda revealed on X how she was escorted ...
The Japanese adult video performer An Sasakura recently sat down for an interview with Nikkan Spa!, joined by her none other than her mother.
Sasakura is a 39-year-old industry veteran who debuted in February 2016 and has since appeared in over 500 releases. She left her agency last year and is currently working as a freelancer.
She has openly talked of her strict upbringing with a father who is an executive at a major corporation, and her business owner grandfather.
The interview with Sasakura and her mother was proposed by the actress herself, and her mother agreed.

On the evening of June 7, adult video actress Mai Fujisaki issued an apology on social media apologizing "for the worry and trouble caused by some media reports."
This refers to reports in Taiwanese media outlet on June 3 and later picked up by Japanese media that Fujisaki had entered Taiwan on a tourist visa and illegally engaged in prostitution, leading to her arrest in a hotel in Tianmu, a high-end residential area of Taipei, and subsequently deportation.
Fujisaki acknowledged the reports. "The incident in question occurred about six months ago." She then expressed deep remorse, ...
A few weeks ago, controversy erupted over a Japanese man's posts on social media boasting about paying for sex from underage sex workers in Indonesia.
In posts going back to at least 2024, he brazenly wrote about how he was looking forward to having sex with these "living onaholes" aged 16 or 17, and was going to "creampie" them.
It inevitably led to outrage online last month. Angry Indonesians found further examples of other Japanese men boasting about their supposed exploits. Warnings were issued by the Japanese embassy and government that child prostitution is illegal. Police in ...
The Japanese porn star Yui Hatano celebrated her 18th anniversary in the industry this week.
In that time, countless other performers have fallen by the wayside and most have been forgotten, Hatano has not only retained her popularity, but kept up an enviable rate of releases and also seemingly not grown jaded as she got older.
It is estimated that the award-winning performer, known affectionately to fans as Hata-chan or Yui-chan, has appeared in more than 3,000 porn titles since her debut way back in 2008.
Of course, such a long career has a downside. You feel old compared to your ...
The online version of monthly magazine Spa! recently published a two-part interview with the Japanese porn star Sora Amakawa, describing her early career and experience with management agencies that didn't pay her fees.
We've translated and edited some highlights from the two interviews.
You debuted in the porn industry in 2019. What led you to join a talent agency that represents adult film performers?
Sora Amakawa: I needed to earn money to support my family, so a friend introduced me to a talent agency that specializes in adult film actresses. However, that friend was receiving a ...
Move over ladies, there's a newbie in town and she's quickly attracting buzz from the guys.
In the competitive world of Japanese adult video, where new performers debut weekly, to say nothing of the uncredited amateurs, it takes something to stand out from the crowd. Nozomi Suzuki (鈴木希) might just have it.
She made her debut in March at the age of 21 and has since released two more AVs (one in April, another in May), all with S1 No. 1 Style. At a rate of one a month, that's not a massively prolific output, but since the introduction of legislation on porn that insists on a ...
