DJ Soda to release first photo book in Japan
The Korean musician and model DJ Soda is set to cement her fandom in Japan by releasing her first photo book.
The as-yet untitled book will come out from Shueisha, a major publisher that produces a lot of photo books, on April 5.
DJ Soda shared the news via social media to her millions of fans on February 13, along with some preview pictures and the information that the photo book was shot over a week in Tokyo and Okinawa.
The photographer is ND Chow, who was born in Singapore but is based in Tokyo.
Looking at the photos, it is hard to believe that DJ Soda (whose real name is Hwang So-hee) is 35 years old.
DJ Soda is very popular in Japan (and all around Asia), though the dark side of this came to light last summer when she was publicly groped at a music event by fans. The incident became a big deal in the media and led to the arrests of the perpetrators.
The incident sparked both a lot of sympathy of Soda as well as anger from incels and right-wing netizens, who accused her of anti-Japanese bias against local fans.
The slinky DJ is known for her revealing outfits that she wears at her live music events and in social media posts, and fans (both male and female) seemed to think that meant it was fine to touch her body.
