Former music idol marries her high school teacher
A sweet romance or a queasy tale of grooming?
The July 31 edition of Abema’s Women Who Can’t Keep Quiet (season 3) featured a love story in which a former music idol pursued her high school homeroom teacher for three years, eventually leading to marriage.
There is a 16-year age gap between 25-year-old Aki and the 41-year-old Shinichi, though they are now happily married and have a child together.
The unusual story has attracted widespread reporting from news outlets and social media.

Aki pursued him relentlessly, even going so as to write “I love you, Teach” in the class attendance book, handing him a bottle of cola rigged so the word “Love” would appear after she finished drinking it, and bringing him a homemade bento featuring a heart-shaped hamburger steak. She even made a public declaration of her feelings in front of her classmates during an essay assignment, stating, “In the future, I want to be your wife.”
She fell ill soon after starting high school, and Shinichi’s attention and “care” for her during this vulnerable time is what stirred her feelings for him.

“I had absolutely no intention of dating a student,” Shinichi claimed to the show. “All I could think was, ‘Please stop.'”
Despite being turned down, Aki kept in touch after graduating. Her unwavering devotion, and perhaps her physical maturity, seemed to change things for Shinichi. “Usually, my interactions with students end right there at graduation, but the fact that this connection endured is amazing.”
He eventually confessed his own feelings to Aki on her birthday. Seven years after they first met, the two got married.
We are very curious to know what Aki’s parents thought of the romance — not to mention, Shinichi’s current employers, presuming he still works as a high school teacher.
Aki is described as a former idol but none of the official information about the show or media reporting of this unusual romance has included further details about her ex-group, so it was presumably not a major or famous group.

They’re in a stable relationship, married, with a child, and he’s not *so* old that he’ll be an incapable father. So what’s the problem? It’s not like he’s just some old creep looking to pump & dump an impressionable young woman and ruin her.
It’s insane that many people have more of a problem with this than if she chose to become some dirty slut sucking 10 different cocks a night and never reproducing. That’s ’empowering’ but forming a stable traditional family with a man that’s older than herself is ‘exploitative’. Backwards clown world.
what is unusual for the rest of the world is usual for Japan.
@Dppkkkk
The very fact that this relationship was featured on a TV show demonstrates how unusual it is, no?
She is one messed up individual
