Model Airi Hirase reveals ¥30 million plastic surgery transformation
Known for having spent ¥27.5 million on plastic surgery, the model Airi Hirase has revealed what she used to look like.
She shared a series of photos on X of her previous facial appearance, including as recently as two years ago.
One of the images shows her as a child wearing glasses, contrasted with a current image of her in a dress, highlighting her dramatic transformation. The images also included pictures of Hirase (aka Nyairin) as a high schooler, when she was a gyaru.
Hirase also used the opportunity to promoted her appearance in the Netflix series Plastic Beauty, in which she appears. In fact, she has shared many of the images of her younger look in the past, and this renewed flurry of shares was a savvy effort to get herself back in the public eye to coincide with the release of a major streaming drama.
The series stars Miyu Matsuoka and Riisa Naka as women working in beauty clinics.
In previous posts on X, the 29-year-old Hirase has shared how from the age of 16, she worked multiple jobs for removal and security firms for eight years. She posted an image of her in her security guard uniform. She saved up for her surgeries while living in a one-room apartment with a monthly rent of just ¥23,000.
Hirase’s “real-life Plastic Beauty” photos have elicited a wide range of reactions. Some users expressed sympathy, commenting that the past images were “too painful to look at,” while others voiced respect for her “grit in enduring and overcoming such intense pain.”
Many were also stunned by the sheer scale of the expenditure, with some wondering how many years’ worth of a typical office worker’s salary that amount represents, and praised Hirase for the immense effort and sleepless hard work she put in to save the money for her procedures.
In addition to modeling for the fashion magazine Ane Ageha, Hirase seems to make her living now as an influencer and model through appearance fees.
She did a Weekly Playboy shoot in 2024 that resulted in a digital photo book that promised to be a “testament” to her surgeries (at the time totaling a mere ¥24 million). Her H-cup bust suggests that some of her surgeries were on her breasts.
