Controversy erupts over Japanese adult video about sex with disaster relief volunteer at evacuation shelter

Controversy has erupted online over a Japanese porn film about a female volunteer in a disaster zone, with many expressing outrage at the premise.

The 138-minute adult video (START-460) by SODstar and SOD Create stars Haru Shibasaki and is directed by Chinpo Dazai.

Sexual Relief: A Disaster Rescue Worker with a Strong Sense of Justice Staying in an Evacuation Shelter Accepts Group Creampies as Part of the Month-Long Relief Effort was first released on December 2, 2025, followed by a January release for physical formats. The premise is, like the best AVs, summed up in the long title.

Haru Shibasaki plays a “sexual relief rescue” volunteer happy to help out a bunch of guys down on their luck, living among cardboard boxes in a shelter. In this sense, it is possible to see the AV as an extension of the long-running “homeless sex” subgenre.

There is also a similar 195-minute adult video (HRSM-107) came out in August 2025. The performer is not named, but Captured Female Volunteer, Her Beautiful Body Devoured While Working for Charity about a sweet volunteer kindly helping to pick up trash and do charity work in the neighborhood, and is rewarded for her efforts with a couple of intense sexual encounters.

Japanese porn is no stranger to parody as well as controversy and provocative premises. An adult video once used the sexual assault of NGT48 idol Maho Yamaguchi as inspiration (and starred, appropriately enough, Maho Yamaguchi, a former member of NMB48).

More recently, the Masahiro Nakai sexual assault scandal was the source for an AV starring Erika Ozaki.

Sometimes things can go too far. An adult video clearly based on the DJ Soda groping scandal was canceled prior to release, though it’s not certain if this was due to the backlash that erupted (since, let’s be frank, all publicity is good publicity) or fear of legal repercussions from the Korean performer.

In this particular case, I doubt the producers are too worried about offending a few social justice warriors online, and are probably quite happy that a couple of titles released last year are gaining some traction again.

On the other hand, the current timing is very sensitive: we are approaching the fifteenth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, which killed around 20,000 people in 2011.

For all its exploitative premise, the Haru Shibasaki AV does tap into a very real issue: sexual activity in disaster zones among volunteers and locals.

Unable to go home and stuck in a evacuation center with nothing to do, it is a fact that people get horny, and assaults and other kinds of sexual encounters do take place, possibly as an outlet for stress.

During a disaster, volunteers from outside the region pour in and they, along with other rescue workers community leaders, are revered. They enjoy various degrees of power and sadly, a tiny minority of them do exploit this to commit sexual assaults or rapes of both volunteers and locals.
