Gifu elementary school teacher dismissed for filming in brothel

A primary school teacher in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, has been dismissed for attempting to secretly film a female employee at a sex establishment.

The male teacher worked at Naka Daiichi Elementary School in Kakamigahara, but was dismissed by the Gifu Prefectural Board of Education on June 19, according to multiple news reports.

In mid-December last year, the teacher attempted to record video footage of a prostitute at a sex establishment in Saitama Prefecture using a smartphone. The woman noticed what he was doing and the police were called. The Saitama Prefectural Police then contacted the school the following day, and the teacher was subsequently prevented from coming to work.

Akira Asano was summarily indicted in March for attempted filming of sexually explicit images and subsequently received a summary order to pay a fine of ¥400,000 in April.

During questioning by the Prefectural Board of Education, the 59-year-old teacher reportedly said: “I acted on a moment of weakness.” He also admitted secretly filming women two or three times at sex establishments in Aichi Prefecture last year.

Yoshiaki Nakano, head of the Education Management Division of the Prefectural Board of Education, stated, “This betrays the trust of children, parents, and the citizens of Gifu Prefecture, and we deeply apologize.”
