Idol Asuka Oda to open gravure lounge bar in Kabukicho
Gravure idol Asuka Oda has announced the opening of a lounge in the Kabukicho district of Shinjuku, central Tokyo, where gravure idols will serve customers.
While we have seen similar kinds of gravure bars in the past (as well as bars with active Japanese porn stars for servers), this may be the first opened by an active gradol and staffed by her peers.
The 36-year-old Oda said, “I am pleased to announce the opening of Gravure Idol Lounge Grow in Kabukicho, Shinjuku.”
Opening such a business is a long-cherished plan of hers, she shared. “Owning my own place has been a dream of mine. I am happy that this dream has come true.”
The opening is set for August, when Tokyo (and much of Japan) is insanely hot and sweaty. No doubt we will all need a drink or two to cool us down.
Because it is a “lounge” instead of a regular bar, it will probably have a fairly steep cover charge to maintain a more exclusive clientele and more intimate atmosphere. According to the initial publicity information, reservations are required and you have to become a member (which presumably entails a fee).
They are now recruiting members of staff. “The only requirement is that you be a gravure idol. Experience is not necessary.”
Oda is now firmly entering her jukujo cougar years, making her a great choice of a bar mama-san. “We will do our best to create a shop that everyone will love, so we would appreciate your warm support.”
In April, Oda announced her marriage and childbirth on Instagram. She actually married a scriptwriter and director way back in 2012 and they had their first child in 2023. Marriage did not stop Oda from pursuing a career in gravure, and she even did full-frontal nude shoots in that time. She also did a nude sex scene in a movie in 2019, so her husband must be an understanding and generous guy happy for his wife to share her body with the world.
Perhaps when Oda will be serving customers in Kabukicho from August, he will be at home keeping an eye on their son.
