Tennis player Ayano Sonoda complains about new porn parody

The popular Japanese tennis player Ayano Sonoda has complained publicly about a new Japanese porn productions that seems to take inspiration from her, even to the point of using a cover image possibly based on one of the photos she previously posted on social media.

The cover of Dedicated to tennis for 19 years! A talented athlete who competed in the inter-high school championships and played for a corporate team! She’s making her AV debut to satisfy her pent-up masochistic sexual desires! Beneath her clothes lies a stunning, toned, slender body with G-cup breasts! Marika Sonoda features the performer just after hitting a ball, and the pose closely resembles an image Sonoda posted on Instagram in September 2025 (though it is also a fairly generic tennis pose).

The 150-minute E-Body production was released July 17. Sonoda is convinced that the cover image “traced” her original photo and the marketers simply replaced parts of her body with Marika Sonoda (園田茉莉華), who was surely cast in the role because she shares the same surname as the athlete. In a post to her thousands of followers on July 17, she put the two images side by side and asked her followers if she could sue. The post has had, at the time of writing, 13.4 million views.

It is the first release by Marika Sonoda, who is either a debut performer or previously worked under a different name, and has adopted a new professional moniker for this release. She is supposed to be a 24-year-old tennis player, though we suspect those huge G-cup breasts would hamper her movement during a match.

Other than some poses on the court, much of the release (EBWH-359) features the hottie oiled up and engaged in a passionate threesome.

Ayano Sonoda is a 30-year-old tennis pro with a large social media following. The WTA website only seems to have stats for her as a doubles player up to 2020. Her career high ranking as a doubles player is 936. In April, she released her first digital photo book.

Japanese porn parodies tend to take particular topical incidents for inspiration or popular franchises (movies, anime, TV shows, etc.). It is relatively rare for an AV to parody a single individual, though it does happen. The gravure idol and mahjong player Sayaka Okada inspired a porn release in 2025. We’re not sure if Okada was outraged or flattered, but there was essentially nothing she could do.

Some parody porn productions are canceled or unreleased, though, probably due to legal pressure. There was an example of this earlier in the year, when the porn parody of the Strange Houses series was abrupted pulled.

More recently, online outrage about a porn seemingly based on a Japanese man who openly admitted to paying for sex with underage girls in Indonesia led to the video being pulled from streaming.

The released of a porn video based on the DJ Soda groping incident was also put on ice, probably due to the threat of legal action.

In the new adult video landscape that has emerged following the extensive legislation passed in 2022, producers are possibly more sensitive toward controversies that might attract fresh attention from lawmakers, and act in more risk-averse ways, especially during the release and promotion stage.
