K-pop singer Ju Hak-nyeon fired for allegedly paying for sex with ex-JAV porn star Kirara Asuka
K-pop star Ju Hak-nyeon has been kicked out of The Boyz for a private meeting with former Japanese porn star Kirara Asuka. He is also accused of paying for sex with her.
His agency announced on June 16 that the 26-year-old was taking a break for undisclosed reasons. He was then fired from The Boyz on June 18. His agency has also let him go.
On June 19, Ju issued a hand-written apology for his liaison with Asuka, though denied paying for sex after it was first reported by Japanese tabloid Shukan Bunshun.
Ju is accused of meeting Asuka, who is 11 years his senior, at a hotel bar in Tokyo in late May and of paying for sex with her.
We are not sure what actual evidence there is for the accusation that Ju and Asuka slept together, let alone that he paid her for it. While it is well know that Japanese porn stars (and other celebrities) engage in compensated dating with wealthy men, and minor JAV idols sometimes do moonlight as sex workers in between gigs (both in Japan and overseas), we wonder if this is a case of the stigma that adult stars face, whereby everyone just assumes that they sleep with every guy they meet and get paid for it.
Nonetheless, Ju’s former agency and band obviously believed the accusation was serious enough to merit swift punishment. Even the police are involved.
A complaint was filed with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, asking for an investigation into charges including violations of the Sex Trade Punishment Act. Even though the alleged encounter occurred in Japan, the complaint noted that this still constitutes a violation of Article 4 (prohibited acts) of the act.
So far, Asuka has not herself made any public comment about the accusations.
Asuka’s previous romantic partners include Kei Inoo, who is now dating gravure idol Risa Yukihira. When Inoo’s relationship with Asuka was first reported in the Japanese tabloids several years ago, along with seemingly damning photos of the pair on vacation together in Singapore, his agency (Johnny’s, of course) did the usual Japanese agency thing of lying in the face of the evidence, claiming they had met by chance and were just friends.
Yu Mikami has been linked to two Japanese singers, neither of whom suffered major career repercussions as far as we know.
It seems that Japanese fans care less about their idols having sex with former porn stars.
