Ex-porn star Shion Hanabuki (Hikaru Natsuki) now works as programmer
What happens when porn stars retire? Most disappear into obscurity after a short career in a highly competitive industry, probably earning money by hostessing, compensated dating, and sex work. A small number are able to switch gears to an adjacent career, such as acting or modeling (such as Yua Mikami). And there are interesting examples of JAV stars who switch to a wholly different occupation, like Hiyori Yoshioka, who works at a sexual health clinic.
We have chronicled various examples of these post-idol careers over the years, and another interesting one recently came across our radar.
The former Japanese adult video actress Shion Hanabuki, who was also known by the performer name Hikaru Natsuki, retired from the adult film industry and has now started a very different career as a programmer.
As shared on her new social media account, Hanabuki revealed that she retired from the industry last year. The 23-year-old now goes by Noa and says that had to give up her previous social media account and its 20,000 followers, since her former agency took it.
Hanabuki now apparently works as a programmer, especially on web development and automation. But wait, isn’t AI meant be taking all those jobs? Well, Hanabuki has revealed that she uses Claude to help with automation and web development.
She didn’t divulge all this info for no reason, of course. The Kanagawa native is essentially promoting herself and her services, and actively invited people to DM her for consultations.
Hanabuki debuted under the Natsuki name in late 2022 and worked as a Faleno actress in 2023.
