We have heard various reports of gravure models, singers, and actresses in Japan getting the coronavirus over the past few months, but what about AV idols? Inevitably, they are also at risk and one example is Japanese porn star Mikako Abe, who contracted the coronavirus last month.
Her agency, ARCHE Production, announced the news on April 27 and Abe was since then recuperating and quarantining at home. This period officially ended yesterday, May 6, and she has apparently now recovered and can get back to work soon after a few more days of rest.
Making her debut in 2012 and known for her ...
What is is like to be the father of a porn star?
We once blogged about an interview with the wife of a prominent Japanese male porn performer as well as the brother of two gravure idols.
Now the 32-year-old retired top Japanese porn star Kirara Asuka has released a video on her YouTube channel -- it seems that many of the big JAV names are also becoming YouTubers -- all about her dad.
The 20-minute video (only in Japanese), which is the first time her 55-year-old father has made such a public appearance, was published on April 28 and has racked up nearly 750,000 views.
It takes a while ...
The much-younger Japanese wife of a wealthy self-proclaimed "Don Juan," who died under mysterious circumstances in 2018, has finally been arrested.
Saki Sudo (須藤早貴) (25) was detained this week by police over the death of her husband, Kosuke Nozaki, who was famed for his wealth and how he had used it to bed thousands of women.
Nozaki was 77 when he died at his sumptuous property in Wakayama, while Sudo was 22. They had reportedly met by chance at Haneda Airport and quickly married.
It is alleged that she killed him with a meth overdose to get his fortune. She was apparently more ...
People outside Japan have a bad tendency to associate local cuisine exclusively with sushi, which is just plain wrong. But fish loom large, of course -- even in gravure.
Gradol Shihomi Yoshino likes to kinky with raw fish, as we have previously documented on this blog.
If you want to see a naked Japanese woman "dressed" in uncooked fish, then she's the one for you. After all, it's a crowded industry and every idol needs a gimmick to help them stand out. Yoshino describes herself as "between gravure and angling" and she prefers to use dried fish in her work.
She's at it again, this time ...
It was a bit of a shock when Yuka Kuramochi, the top Japanese gravure idol and staple subject matter of this humble blog, announced her marriage to pro gamer Fuudo in later 2019 (after years of secret dating). She went quiet after that and is effectively retired from gravure, instead spending most of her time tweeting about esports and games.
Inevitably, Fuudo did not waste much time in impregnating her -- and who can blame him?
Yuka announced her pregnancy at the end of December and is due in late May.
She recently shared a series of maternity photos on her social media ...
In our continuing survey of what gradols and porn stars do after leaving their jobs, we now have the example of one of the most prominent JAV performers of recent years: Ai Uehara.
Having just won a high-profile diversity award, Ai is wasting no time in launching the next stage in her working life.
She has just started a crowdfunding campaign, aire (pronounced "eye re"), for a new of health and beauty supplement brand called AminoR-20+Zn. As the name suggests, the supplement contains zinc and 20 types of amino acids. The project is produced by Ai in partnership with a corporation, ...
Former top adult video star Ai Uehara is about to kick off her second career with a crowdfunding campaign later this month. The details are still a little slim, though it seems to involve launching her own photography brand. We hope to report more next week.
In the meantime, Ai has been in the news for another reason: she won the Miss iD 2021 award.
The 28-year-old was selected from 2,676 candidates and 194 finalists for the prize, which is now in its ninth year.
The finalists had to attend interviews to win over the the judges. Following auditions held online last August, the event to ...
The busty, popular gravure idol and actress Fumika Baba has reached a new stage of her career as the new face (and body) of the top lingerie brand Peach John.
The latest in an impressive line of models for PJ, Baba follows the likes of Haruna Kojima, Miyuki Watanabe, Saeko, Elaiza Ikeda, and Minami Tanaka.
Baba is the model for GiRLS, a special line of lingerie launched last year within the Peach John collection that is aimed at woman aged from their late teens to early twenties. When GiRLS first launched, its official models included Yui Imaizumi -- shortly before she was taken out of ...
Miyuki Komatsu (小松みゆき or 小松美幸) was a star gravure idol in 1990s. She furthered her status by doing hair nude (full-frontal nude) shoots -- this is back during the hair nude boom -- and also made the transition into soft-core porn films and hard-core adult video -- yes, back when it really was just video. She has since continued to do acting in various kinds of roles on TV and in films, though her career started to tail off during the 2000s.
But this isn't a sad story about a faded star. Far from it, in many respects.
Komatsu has entered a whole new phase in her ...
Kana Koizumi is the gift that keeps on giving.
After she quit her gravure agency for unknown reasons, the idol took to her personal Twitter account to promote herself. One way she did this was by making newly provocative videos.
She seriously raised the stakes when she stripped off, revealing her massive breasts. She continued to upload such short nude videos to her Twitter account.
She then moved to YouTube, where she had an active account and made some topless videos where her modesty was nominally censored by precariously positioned images of bananas. Even so, YouTube was less than ...
