The 39-year-old gravure model and celebrity Yoko Kumada is "working" at a luxury hostess club in Ginza. Well, kind of. The initial media headlines were a little misleading.
Kumada's entrepreneur husband was arrested last month for assaulting her, including allegedly hitting her in the face, but was released without charge two days later. She has announced her intention to start divorce proceedings, though there are also reports that the incident was prompted by her husband's suspicions of her adultery, which might complicate things. She and her husband have three young children.
She shared ...
Is the Virgin Killer Sweater really fatal for male virgins?
June 8, 2021
/ Tadashi Anahori
In 2017, the so-called Virgin Killer Sweater clothing item -- a curious combo of cuddly knitwear and a backless design -- exploded on the internet in Japan. Its viral success was thanks in no small part to gravure idol Jun Amaki, who modeled the outfit with amazing results.
The item became available in various versions and more people began to buy it. For a while, it was harder to get but we are pleased that our friends at Kanojo Toys have recently stocked several new types, including a white one, an "open-front" version, and a set with knee-high socks.
As such, we also thought it a good ...
This office lady started dating older men for money due to remote working

Is compensated dating with sugar daddies increasing among Japanese women due to remote working?
Bunshun Online had an intriguing article suggesting something to that effect. It interviews a 24-year-old female office worker who has started doing "papakatsu," a newly coined kind of compensated dating where younger women go on dates with older men.
She started her new sideline in January and over the course of the past few months, has met over 60 men this way.
The woman says that shifting to working remotely has changed her whole daily schedule, making it more flexible, whole semi-lockdowns ...
Photo report: A first-time visit to Kabukicho’s host clubs (during the coronavirus pandemic)
April 16, 2021
/ Tadashi Anahori
Times are tough for host and hostess clubs, since they were demonized during the first wave of coronavirus infections in Japan and, inevitably, even their loyal patrons don't want to risk the close quarters of such clubs during these times.
But if you are brave enough, now is actually the best chance to visit the clubs. They are likely to be empty and you will have the pick of whichever host or hostess you fancy talking with. Plus you can get a discount.
We came across a photo report about a first-time visit to host clubs in Kabukicho in the coronavirus era. The young Japanese woman makes ...
The incomparable joy of old love hotels in rural Japan
April 8, 2021

Regular readers will know that, in between all the news and updates about gravure idols and Japanese porn, or trying out new Japanese adult toys, we love to explore aspects of Japanese adult culture like the history of sex and old love hotels.
Showa-era love hotels are truly the best if you want garish colors, kitsch, and cheap gimmicks (revolving beds and so on) instead of the more practical amenities and chic interiors that have become the mainstream today (as nice as those are).
We spotted this selection of fantastic love hotel images on Twitter. Unfortunately, they are not captioned ...
What's it like to own a love hotel in Japan?
It perhaps sounds on paper like a sleazy job, right? Or maybe one where you get to spy on all kinds of sexual antics.
The reality is, of course, most mundane (and discretion is the name of the game). In fact, running a love hotel is a tough, busy job because the emphasis is so much on amenities, convenience, and comfort -- and with a fast turnaround. Love hotels today offer a lot of extras, from video games and karaoke to meals.
This is revealed in another video by Abroad in Japan that we recently rediscovered. It's from summer 2019 -- ...
A visit to a scary abandoned love hotel in rural Japan
January 14, 2021
/ Tadashi Anahori
We recently showcased a podcast from Abroad in Japan about five ways to impress Japanese women.
It prompted us to revisit some of Abroad in Japan's other content and we found a gem that we had overlooked in October of last year.
The YouTuber took a visit to an abandoned love hotel -- a trope we have a fondness for, as regular readers will know.
The 4K, 20-minute video is pretty awesome, if a bit chilling. Despite countless guests and countless sessions of sex over the years, all that remains is dust and dirt (plus some graffiti-art and a message scrawled onto a bed).
There is a fair ...
Five ways to impress Japanese women
January 11, 2021
/ Tadashi Anahori
The podcast (and YouTube series) Abroad in Japan has uploaded a new episode that we think will interest Tokyo Kinky readers.
It's called "5 ways to make a great first impression on Japanese women!" -- but also includes "five incredibly bad ones."
Naturally, this is all according to a foreigner, so some may well disagree with the suggestions, but all tips are surely welcome in this dating landscape so blighted by the pandemic.
We won't expound on them all here, since we reckon it's worthwhile that readers listen to the 40-minute episode themselves, but fear not, they are relatively ...
A visit to SOD Land, Tokyo’s porn theme park bar complex that is surprisingly hygienic
December 4, 2020
/ Tadashi Anahori
These days, we aren't going out much, but we might be persuaded to make an exception here.
Tokyo Weekender published a photo report on the recently opened SOD Land, which is publicized as a porn theme park.
As previously reported, the complex opened in the Kabukicho area of Shinjuku in central Tokyo back in October, and features five floors devoted to adult video.
Tokyo Weekender's report emphasizes the "safety" aspect of the visit, in how the site has adapted to the risk of the coronavirus through face masks, disinfecting visitors from head to foot, and a special UV filter in the ...
Japanese scientists develop robotic hand for lonely guys to hold on romantic walks
November 2, 2020
/ Tadashi Anahori
A research team at Gifu University has developed the My Girlfriend in Walk (sic), a robotic hand that the user can hold to replicate the experience of a romantic walk with a partner.
The artificial hand apparently even imitates the way a human appendage sweats and smells as well as feeling soft and warm.
Grip the hand and its built-in sensors detect the pressure of your grasp and will squeeze your hand back in reply. The hand can also work in tandem with the user's smartphone to recognize whose hand it is holding.
Despite investing unknown amounts of time and yen in the development, the ...
