Miku Kanemura (Hinatazaka46) goes paipan for new photo book
Hinatazaka46 member Miku Kanemura has released some preview images of her upcoming second photo book and netizens and fans are going wild over a particular shot of her in alluring black lingerie.
Dressed in an elegant teddy or bodysuit, Miku’s bust is really emphasized, transforming her ordinarily slender-looking figure into something far more sensual and voluptuous. This is Miku as femme fatale.
But most eye-catching of all, the crotch area suggests that she has very carefully groomed or even gone fully hairless (paipan) downstairs. This speculation is all a bit tasteless and crude, of course, but netizens are actively talking about this, and even sharing zoomed-in pics to salivate over the prospect of her shaved you-know-what.
And we’re more interested in the bigger picture here.
In the past, Japanese women did not shave, wax, or even actively trim their pubic hair that much, in contrast to the increasingly hairless trend in parts of the West. But this seems to be shifting, especially as celebrities and idols show off their paipan look in such shoots (even if they may not reflect their daily shaving habits, since a photo shoot is hardly a “natural” glimpse at the female body).
On the other hand, the hair nude (full-frontal nude) photo book genre is literally premised on pubic hair, so it will likely not disappear completely — and some women are pushing for even more hair on their bodies.
We’re gonna go out on a limb here and give our opinion: we prefer bush. Not a jungle, of course, but a moderately trimmed bush. We think it looks and feels more natural, and don’t find it affects intimacy. We have the same attitude towards male pubic hair.
Kanemura is 24 years old an building a career as a fashion model with regular gigs for Bis and Voce since 2025, alongside her music idol work.
She has been a member of Hinatazaka46 since 2017 and released her first photo book in 2022, followed by her first photography exhibition in 2024. This second photo book, subtleties, comes out via Kodansha on October 20.
Kanemura is also a graduate of the Nihon University College of Art.
