The catgirl is a staple of erotic anime, manga and game fantasy characters. Finding these slinky feline females sexy doesn't mean you want to start rogering a kitten any time soon. The anthropomorphic qualities add a cheeky side to the girl -- the "cat" is expressing her playful personality. And who doesn't like playing with cats? We guess it was inevitable that a masturbator toy would turn up soon which allowed you to experience virtual sex with a catgirl. Actually, we're sure this isn't the first one but it may be the best example so far. The Dekoboko Moo Moo Catgirl Onahole plays on ...

A doujin-made comic cooking book is provoking some eyebrow-raising online. The title for Oyako to shimai o oishiku itadaku 15 no houhou translates literally as "15 ways to deliciously eat mothers-and-daughters and sisters". What the heck does that mean? No, the creators, doujinshi Poisson Rouge, are not promoting cannibalism. Certain dishes in their book are classified as "mother-and-daughter" recipes, while others are "sister" dishes. It's a pun on Oyako-don, a common dish whose name literally means "parent-and-child rice bowl". While the concept is pretty interesting in itself, the ...

Who says otaku can't be book worms? After all, they certainly read a lot of manga. And obsession can be a form of erudition. An otaku magazine is currently offering a freebie for readers. Nothing special in that, though. In Japan this practice is known as omake and has become a staple in fashion magazines. But we'll take this freebie over any brand bag. It's a book cover -- and one with breasts! The boobs in question are supposed to belong to Rias Gremory, the main heroine in the light novel, manga and anime "High School DxD". Needless to say, as you read you ...

The 2020 Olympics have found their future local star. This young man can run super fast, no doubt because he has energy feeding into his body courtesy of his love for 2D idols. Yes, this is Japan's fastest otaku. At the Emperor's Cup 83rd Japan Student Field and Track Championship over the weekend, Hiroki Hashimoto ran the male 400 meters dash in under 51 seconds, claiming the number one spot on the podium. Hashimoto, who is a student at Nihon University, Japan's largest college, chose to celebrate his victory on Sunday with his best friend, a 2D idol that is his most beloved ...

Sony has bizarrely chosen to show off its virtual reality headset Project Morpheus with this creepy demo Summer Lesson, to be exhibited at Tokyo Game Show later this month. Sony, perhaps with an eye on its dismal sales of late, seems to want to attract the otaku dollar, since the demo, in contrast to previous ones that involved such exciting scenarios as a shark cage, is about leering at a loosely-dressed schoolgirl as she hangs around at home. Here's the demo, though you'll have to wait until TGS to test it out. Directed and produced by Katsuhiro ("Tekken") Harada -- who ...

August (and December) means only one thing if you're a dojinshi or cosplay otaku in Japan: Comiket. And so it was that Comiket 86 kicked off on Friday for a three-day bonanza of cosplay, otaku and clicking cameras. The internet has become replete with the shocking and scintillating pictures from the visitors, mostly taken outside the Odaiba venue as people, including professional cosplay models, posed and frolicked under the humid sun. Here are some selections from the hot and sweaty images to be found on the Japanese web right now. Warning: contains extreme geekdom! First of all, ...

Will this finally take the crown for AKB48 Fan of the Century? As reported by our friends at JapanTrends.com, one admirer of Yuki Kashiwagi has succeeded in making a working android of her, the Yukirin Robot. AKB48 fans aren't known for their subtlety or restraint. From purchasing up crazy amounts of CDs and merchandise to attacking the objects of their desire at handshaking events, AKB48 is a group that inspires all manner of extreme response from its fans. But this is something we haven't personally seen before, though it is at least technically impressive. It ...

She may well have only come second this year but she still has her die-hard fans. Exiled former AKB48 idol Rino Sashihara finished runner-up in the AKB48 General Election last weekend but this was in spite of the best efforts of a farmer, who voted for her 4,600 times. A strawberry farmer apparently with money to burn was personally responsible for over 3% of Sashihara's winning 150,570 votes last year. He claimed he would get at least 4,600 votes for her this year, despite having a wife and two children of his own. Regardless, it didn't help as Mayu Watanabe beat Sashiko to the ...

This time it's not fake. After blogging a few days ago about the obviously fake "fan" who claimed to have spent $310,000 on AKB48 CDs, the internet has responded. Now the real stuff is here, a deluge of cringing photos of boxes and piles of actual AKB48 CDs. The fans buy bulk loads of CDs in order to extract the "votes" you can get from each CD. These can then be used in the "election", which is currently happening (and which Rino Sashihara looks set to win again, despite not even being a member of AKB48 any more). This practice is encouraged by the AKB48 money men, who of course ...

It's election time and we don't mean for a new prime minister. It's AKB48 "General Election" time. But with the biggest stars (no more Mariko Shinoda, Yuko Oshima or Atsuko Maeda) already out of the world's most populous music group, AKB48's star is beginning to wane and recent album sales have been lower. In the annual general election, fans can buy votes -- yes, vote-rigging is legal in the music industry in Japan -- that come with CDs. This encourages the crazies to go, well, crazy. One fan of minor member Juri Takahashi has allegedly gone so far as to purchase ¥31,502,400's ...
