Japanese people like to use cushions when they feel lonely, even in historical times. If you have some imagination and a bit of money, you can invest in one of the massive range of dolls around -- from blow-up air dolls to lap cushions, "love cushions" to full-out silicone love dolls from Orient Industry. Otaku in particular have always liked to have cushions of their loved ones as pillows-cum-partners. This is probably more out of companionship than anything physical (i.e. they don't actually fuck the pillows... maybe). Now some boffins have developed Hugvie, a huggable ...

We took a trip to the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2012 recently. There were plenty of moe girls! Nico Nico Douga had its own Shinto shrine (and shrine maidens). Random monsters... Plus moe-decorated cars! And chocolate bread... in a can, ...

An otaku engineer has devised a system so that his lust for idols will not be hampered by the constraints of the 2D. Now he has created a poster that can respond to being "kissed", perfect for reenacting his fantasies of making out with his favorite fantasy girls. We love how the young guy who developed the poster is so flagrant about his motivations: I'm a big fan of pop idols, and I have posters of them in my room. It bugged me that the posters didn't move at all. We built this system because we thought, if a poster could move to match people's movements, that would be interactive ...

Moonstone Cherry's Imouto Paradise, a massive hit with Akiba boys, will love this new set from our friends at KanojoToys -- a masturbator onahole based on one of the "sisters" from Imouto Paradise, plus her own lotion, panties and video CD-ROM! I've been trying out Aya Nanase, with her long tunnel of stimulating nubs. The small, developing breasts on the hole also add to the sensation of fucking a young, nubile "imouto". The two types are different, though. Once Taro has finished with Hiyori Nanase -- and cleaned her afterwards! -- I may try her out too. We recommend watching ...

If you've ever gone to any expo, conference or industry event in Japan, you'll know that there are always hot girls in skimpy clothes, handing out merchandise, leaflets, and just generally trying to attract attention to the booth they are representing. The cynic in me says these ladies -- known as "booth babes" or companions -- weren't quite "good enough" to be models, haven't yet made it as actresses, and don't fancy being hostesses (or maybe they do that at night) or porn stars (again, actually they could be doing that on the same, as one of the army of unsung kikaku joyu who exist ...

This cute girl can be yours to hold and touch on your iPhone or iPad for just 230 yen (about $2.70)! The Oniichan app has three characters voiced by Himeko Sakuragawa, Arisu and Miruku Shirayuki respectively. You have to find the "points" on the screen that open up different kinds of "Oniichan" siutations and responses. Each girl has 100 of these situations. Once you find 80 of them you can start playing with the next character. It may not quite be as good as Love Plus but I'm still gonna download this ...

You might have heard about the huge Evangelion statue to land at Fuji Q High Land in July. It will stand 9 meters high and 16 meters wide. Construction costs are said to be 1.5 billion yen ($16.2 million)! It's gonna have to attract a lot of anime fans to make up those overheads. Unfortunately, though, the Fuji Q is for the Unit 01 (初機号), not the lovely Rei Ayanami. What a better statue that would have made! There has also recently been an Evangelion-themed Lawson's in Hakone that had to be canceled, so immense was the crush from anxious otaku fans to get inside! Maybe Fuji Q will ...

Any self-respecting otaku or anime-lover will have heard of Konami's Love Plus. It's a virtual dating sim game for the DS. Players can choose one of three girls (Aika Takamine, Rinko Kobayakawa and Nene Anegasaki) and pursue a full relationship with them. You can speak to them through the DS's microphone and even the touch-pad allows for some interaction. It is even possible to sit down and communicate with other nearby DS players using the game through the wireless connection function. Well, now there's a iPhone and iPod app version. This is even better than the DS version ...
