Woman claims husband is gay to scam sperm donor out of ¥4 million
On July 10, Nemuro Police Station in Hokkaido announced that a man in his forties had been defrauded of approximately ¥3.96 million in a scam involving sperm donation.
According to the police, the incident began on July 2 when a woman claiming to be a fashion designer followed the man on social media and initiated a conversation via the messenger app LINE. She hinted at romantic interest, telling him that “I want to meet you.” This led the man to trust her, reports NTV.
The woman also apparently sent a nude photo of herself. “My husband is gay, so we can’t have children, and I’m in a bind because my parents are pressuring me to start a family,” she allegedly claimed.
She asked if he would provide sperm, claiming that she and her husband had agreed on using a third-party donor.
Subsequently, the man was directed to a LINE group where he was contacted by various individuals claiming to be lawyers and tax accountants. After signing a non-disclosure agreement, he was told he would receive ¥30 million as compensation for his sperm donation. Over the course of five days, he transferred a total of approximately ¥3.96 million in cash to a designated account across eight separate transactions, supposedly to cover taxes and fees in regard to the sperm donation process.
Eventually the penny dropped and the man realized he had been scammed and consulted the police after the promised ¥30 million failed to arrive. But by then, inevitably, he was no longer able to contact the woman or the others involved in the scam.
The police have taken the choice to publicize information on the scam immediately, even though they have made no arrests (and are probably unlikely to). They advise the public to suspect fraud if someone they meet on social media ever asks for cash, and to contact the dedicated consultation hotline at #9110.

Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any images from Hayashi’s photo book, which probably means its impact has been relatively small. She’s quite a hottie, though.
