Sister act: Kei and Rei Jonishi in jaw-dropping joint shoot
The sisters Kei and Rei Jonishi have posed together for a sensual gravure photo shoot for Weekly Playboy featuring the two idols in alluring lingerie and swimwear.
Kei Jonishi is the older of the sisters, now 31 years and a member of Osaka music group NMB48 from 2010 to 2017. She has since done work as a model but has left a couple of agencies, and hasn’t released a solo photo book (digital or print) for a few years.
Rei Jonishi is still just 24 years old and also a member of NMB48 since 2016. She released her most recent print photo book in March last year, and also features in the current issue of Weekly Playboy, making this a very busy and high-profile month for her.
As such, Rei is arguably at the peak of her music idol and gravure career, while Kei is navigating how to re-establish herself as she enters her thirties and jukujo territory. A lavish photo shoot with her sister is definitely one great strategy for doing this.
The 12-page cover shoot is accompanied by a making-of 54-minute DVD and a digital photo book, which we think is the first the sisters have done together (though not their first joint shoot: we think that was way back in 2017).
More than just a novelty shoot, it’s tapping into a kind of gravure subgenre we have like to showcase at regular intervals on this blog. Previous examples include Mayumi and Tomoe Yamanaka (who also have a brother with complicated feelings about their careers), Yukipoyo and Yumichi Kimura, Yurina and Iroha Yanagi, and Sayaka and Akari Tomaru. Probably the most famous gradol siblings at present, though, are Marina and Erika Momose, who frequently do shoots together and are known collectively as the Erimari sisters (pictured below).
And this subgenre is also obviously playing up to a male fantasy of a threesome with two lesbian sisters (note how the photographer has Rei and Kei Jonishi not just pose next to each but wrapped in each others’ arms and bodies). This trope is also found in adult manga and other content, as well as various adult toys and male masturbators. As long as there are sexy sisters, there will be such content and releases!
