80-year-old male TV announcer praises entertainer: “He could impregnate AKB48!”

Japan is known for its large numbers of seniors. Not only are seniors numerically significant — almost 30% of the population are over 65 — but they still dominate politics, bureaucracy, and even entertainment, with older people (especially men) remaining in respected positions.

This can lead to trouble.

After the notorious case earlier this year with former prime minister Yoshiro Mori’s comments about women talking too much in meetings that cost him his job as head of the Tokyo Olympics comes another example, this time involving Kazuo Tokumitsu, who is a sprightly 80 years old.

Tokumitsu appeared in a talk with 59-year-old comedian Hakase Suidobashi on the latter’s Dr. Strangetalk YouTube channel. The topic of comedian 66-year-old Sanma Akashiya, who as this blog has noted before, is somewhat notorious for his pursuit of younger women, including porn stars.

Tokumitsu was full of admiration, even envy, commenting that “he looked so full of vigor. Like he could still impregnate one or two of those AKB48 idols!”

Naturally, this has sparked a bit of a backlash online (including in English), not to mention unpleasant images of octogenarians having sex with teenaged AKB48 idols.

There’s no suggestion that Sanma-san has had an affair with a current member of the supergroup — at least, not yet.
