Man steals 200 bicycle seats: “I wanted to smell them.”

We love documenting the intriguing fetishes that exist out there -- and be sure, we don't do out of any sense of judging! Quite the opposite, we are kind of celebrating difference.
Anyway, another example has just come to light.
A man was arrested in Kanagawa prefecture over the weekend for stealing. Nothing new in that, except that he stole bicycle seats. A lot of them. 200 of them.
Police first came to see Joji Kondo to investigate the theft of three seats from an apartment block at around 4:45 AM on August 22nd. In Kondo's lair of pungent desire, they found 200 bicycle ...
Cop arrested for shooting up-skirt with spy camera in shoe

Japanese cops have guns and in theory can shoot someone if necessary.
Well, some shoot other things.
Kozo Shirakawa, a 46-year-old sergeant in Kagawa, was nothing if not ingenious. He attached a special spy camera to his shoe so he could film up women's skirts. The camera was on the inside and could shoot from a small hole in the leather.
One August Sunday afternoon he took his invention to a department store in Takamatsu, where he was trying it out by filming up the skirt of a 23-year-old woman.
Surely this guy should be given bonus points for innovation and brazenness. The ...
It was just after three on the afternoon of August 16th, a scorching hot day in Hirano, east Osaka. Hirano is notorious for bag-snatching and other crime, so when police got a call from a twenty-six-year-old girl that her purse had been grabbed while cycling home, no doubt they weren't surprised.
Until she gave her description of the criminal. "This is a first," said the police.
According to the girl, the man was aged between 30 and 35, with a crew cut and muscular build.
But he had chosen to steal her handbag with its 9,000 yen inside wearing the most unusual of crime world ...
Tokyo Reporter has blogged a story from the tabloids that reveals the notoriety of Osaka is not without merit.
A gangster from the Yamaguchi-gumi, Tatsuya Kajiwara, has been arrested for employing minors at the establishments under his control in Osaka, all so-called girls' bars.
Girls' bars are kind of super low-price hostess clubs in which the staff will all be female and there will be a small-ish charge. The decor will be typically rather kitsch or sporty, than sexy, and have a fixed bar behind which the flirty girls -- always young and not usually glamorous like hostesses -- ...
Osaka tax official arrested for setting up fake chikan train groping
July 15, 2013

Back in May we reported on the incredible story -- actually one of the most intriguing things we have ever heard -- of a chikan incident on a Wakayama train in which a woman was groped by two men who believed that the woman had asked them to do it via an online forum.
In fact, she had done no such thing and they had been set up. Her protests were more realistic than the two men expected and one got off the train. When the other man also attempted to leave at the end of the line, he was grabbed by the victim and arrested.
The 26-year-old from Osaka protested his innocence and the police soon ...
Top Osaka cop was serial train groper: “unforgettably soft”
July 11, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
Another day, another chikan story.
To grope one girl is risque. To grope two girls is rather cheeky. But to grope thirty, well, that's just getting carried away.
Or not, especially when it's a cop and he gets caught -- then it's just unprofessional in the literal sense of the word.
On a train in Kyoto a 38-year-old Osaka head patrol officer was recently grabbed with his hands where they shouldn't have been -- on the body of an office lady.
He offered the excuse for his serial train chikan groping that the ladies in question were simply too "unforgettably soft". He has been ...
Groper vigilante idol group member leads campaign against chikan

You gotta admire the guts of Miyabi Asai, the member of the Kawasaki City local idol group Kawasaki Junjo Komachi whose friend was groped on a train -- known as chikan -- but then grabbed the culprit and held onto him.
This has made her a bit of a star, thus doing more than even her idol group's activities ever did to raise Kawasaki's profile.
One night on the Odakyu Line at the end of June, her 17-year-old friend was groped by a man (38). With Asai's help they held onto the guy and gave him up to station staff at the next station.
The next day traffic to the idol group's website went ...
The days of deai-kei websites are looking numbered as high-profile cases of arrests and suing continue.
Deai-kei sites are ostensibly dating sites, though many are actually run all by men, who pose as women -- sometimes as idols -- in order to extract fees over long periods of time.
Police arrested the thirty-four-year-old executive of a deai-kei company earlier this month, along with the nine part-time men and women who worked there -- no doubt as the "voice" of the women deceiving the men by email. The company, Wingnet, has sales in excess of 10 billion yen. An arrest warrant has ...
The new "child porn" proposal put forward by the ruling LDP, the Komeito and Japan Restoration Party immediately stoked controversy in the manga and anime worlds, with insiders suggesting it would destroy the industries.
Now there is a suggestion that under the rules of the new law, even scenes from the famed and beloved kids' anime Doraemon wouldn't be safe from the censor's scissors.
Essentially it allows any depiction of under eighteen year-old people to be defined as child porn, and being caught with such filth can get you a year in jail or a hefty fine.
As part of the ...
Japanese political parties put forward bill banning “possessing child porn”
June 13, 2013
/ Tadashi Anahori
A three-party group has put forward a bill proposing to extend the ban on so-called child porn to anyone even just possessing it.
The ruling LDP and its allies Komeito and Japan Restoration Party (led by Shintaro Ishihara and Toru Hashimoto) proffered the new bill to the Diet at the end of May.
The manga and anime industries have already reacted in horror to the new draconian bill.
But what does this mean for the law and the average person?
Well, if you are just possessing a picture showing a Gravure idol or swimwear idol under 18, then you are liable for arrest. "Possession" ...
