Megumi Kagurazaka makes shock nude gravure comeback
Here’s something we did not expect to be on our radar. The actress Megumi Kagurazaka has made a surprise return to gravure.
Now aged 44, the married mother is to release her first photo book in 14 years. The as-yet-untitled book will come out in Japan on December 18.
She has kicked off her return with an interview and shoot over 11 pages of the October 24/31 issue of the weekly magazine Friday.
And this isn’t just a gravure comeback. It’s a nude comeback — and a full-frontal nude shoot (known as a hair nude in the industry). It almost feels like we are back in the 2000s!
Age and motherhood has clearly not impacted Kagurazaka’s body or feminine allure at all!
If her new photo book is anything like this shoot (which is probably a preview of the book content), we expect it will be very successful.
Debuting in the entertainment industry in 2004 and releasing her first photo book in 2008, Kagurazaka focused initially on gravure before moving into acting in independent movies.
She is known for her classically busty body and willingness to strip, most famously in her very nude appearances in the erotic films Cold Fish and Guilty of Romance (2011). Both were directed by erotic cinema giant Sion Sono.
Kagurazaka married the considerably older Sono in 2011. She continued to act and serve as president of his production company. In 2019, she gave birth to their first child.
But Sono became one of the most high-profile victims of the MeToo movement in Japan when he was accused in the media of sexual assault in 2022. Though he denied the accusations and even launchd a partly successful lawsuit against another male actor for defamation on social media, the scandal has apparently left the 63-year-old unable to work (he was one of the most high-profile independent Japanese filmmakers). As such, his wife’s return to nude modeling may actually be motivated by financial need. Either way, from the look of the photos, the aging director surely has plenty to keep himself occupied with at home!
