Hokkaido music idol sacked for alleged secret porn past

Many music idols have rules, explicit or implicit, that prevent them from having romantic or sexual relationships to keep up the pretense that fans have a chance of dating their favorite singer.

If you think music idols are not having sex, though, you’ve pretty naive, as the various dating “scandals” have demonstrated over the years.

Some idols are even more sexually active than you might suspect, including having secret porn careers.

Tsumugi Mugino was recently fired from the Hokkaido idol group Icecream Square after her alleged appearance in an “amateur” porn release came to light.

Such “amateur” (shiroto) productions are a major part of the Japanese adult video industry. Of course, these are amateur productions in the sense of homemade porn or sex tapes. The performers are paid and only amateur in that they are not credited (and sometimes have their faces partially obscured).

Some of these productions are released not on major JAV streaming platforms but through FC2, which is headquartered in the United States and known for hosting pirated JAV and content otherwise illegal in Japan.

In the digital era, it is relatively easy to match faces even if you are not named or fully visible in the release.

The Icecream Square management announced on July 28 that Mugino had been fired, reducing the number of members of the girl group to six. “As a result of discovering false statements in her activity history, her contract has been terminated as of today,” the announcement said with noted ambiguity.

“We apologize for the inadequacy in our verification system at the time of Mugino’s joining, and above all for causing concern. Please refrain from prying or asking questions to other members about this matter.”

Netizens had discovered that Mugino had apparently appeared in an amateur porn production available on FC2 since March this year. It is advertised as an idol’s porn debut. (We also notice with concern from one of the screenshots that she seems to have scars from cuts on her left arm.)

Mugino, whose age is not available publicly, joined the idol group in July. Just five days prior to her ignominious sacking, Mugino had been announced alongside the other six new members. The group itself launched with other members in March 2023 with the concept of “from Hokkaido to Tokyo and the world.”
