Did Erika Sawajiri really have a sex contract with her ex-husband?

Japanese actress and singer Erika Sawajiri was in the news recently after her drug bust in late 2019, the latest in a long line of scandals and ups and downs for the celebrity.

The 33-year-old has officially retired from the industry after receiving a suspended sentence in February and we doubt we will be seeing her back any time soon, so taboo are drugs in Japan in spite of their prevalence in the entertainment world. At the time, Sawajiri was about to star in the annual Taiga drama on NHK, which would have been her biggest mainstream success since her comeback.

Another intriguing development also put her back in the news again recently. Though we doubt its veracity, it is too funny not to share with our readers.

erika sawajiri sex contract ex-husband prenuptial

A Korean TV show claimed that Sawajiri had signed a prenuptial agreement with her former husband, Tsuyoshi Takashiro, whom she married in January 2009 in a lavish ceremony at Meiji Jingu. She was just 22 at the time — 22 years younger than Takashiro — and attempting to make a comeback after a hiatus.

In the agreement, the couple allegedly even agreed how many times they were allowed to have sex.

Sawajiri demanded that five times a month was the limit. For any intercourse after this, Takashiro had to pay a princely sum of ¥436,000 (about $4,000) per session.

Five times a month with one of the most beautiful women in Japan? Would that be enough?!

If Takashiro had an affair, he was also apparently obliged to pay Sawajiri ¥8.6 million (around $80,000) just for going on dates and then double that fee if he was actually sleeping with the other woman.

The idea of a “sex contract” is pretty crazy. True or otherwise, it possibly tells us a lot about the media image of Erika Sawajiri as a diva.

Whether or not this alleged prenup contributed to the souring of their relationship, Tsuyoshi Takashiro and Erika Sawajiri separated in spring 2010 and formally divorced in 2013.

She then went on to cement her comeback with a lead role in Mika Ninagawa’s Helter-Skelter in 2012, which included a fairly explicit nude sex scene.

I have followed Erika since I saw her in a litre of tears, I am proud to say that I have built up a collection containing every Movie, TV Series, Portrait DVD, Photobook and CD she has released/ been involved with, I believe strongly that if she has been forced to retire because of one transcreation then Japanese cinema has lost an almighty talent which will take some time to recover
