Ami Tokito’s gravure comeback at 37 proves the power of glasses and bikinis

Right now, gravure feels a bit like a battle between the nearly 40-year-olds, all vying to outdo each other.

Or it could be that for all the sweet charms of fresh-faced young newbies like Hina Kikuchi, Cocoro Toyoshima, Aika Sawaguchi, Ina Enohara, and Yuzuha Hongo, these older models and idols just make better stories. (And to be frank, as we get older, we can’t help finding these similarly aged women the hottest.)

We recently had Yuka Iguchi showing us her age-defying beach body and bust.

Former AKB48 idol Mai Oshima is also 37 and looks amazing.

Mayumi Yamanaka is a bit younger but a mother of two, though you wouldn’t know it from her gravure comeback.

And of course, evergreen Kyoko Fukada continues to radiate the effects of that elixir of youth she must have drunk in the past.

The latest sexy older woman (known as a jukujo in Japan) to catch our eye is Ami Tokito, who is now 37 years old and still both cute and sexy, as her recent nine-page shoot for Weekly Friday shows (the issue also includes a making-of DVD).

Tokito made her gravure debut in 2005 and has mainly worked as a singer. She married in 2016 and largely disappeared off our radar, but has now made a new foray into gravure with the release of two digital photo books, aptly titled Bikini & Glasses.

A bikini and pair of glasses are a formidable combination, though we think Tokito is (strictly speaking) wearing a one-piece swimsuit in at least some of the pics.

Amichi, as she’s known to fans, is famous for wearing glasses. She even once launched her own brand of eyeglasses.

She also looks very nice in black and white lingerie, as the shoot proves.

This is Ami Tokito’s first major gravure shoot in a decade and marks a return to her roots in the industry 20 years ago. Will we see more of this (and her) in the near future?
