Trial ends of spirit medium who sexually exploited vulnerable women

The trial of a self-professed spirit medium who practiced “Dynamic Wave Divine Technique,” and was arrested for engaging in sexual acts with women he brainwashed, has ended with a guilty verdict.

Katsuhiko Ohno was 65 at the time, while his victim (unnamed in media reports) was just 28. Her work in the entertainment industry had dried up due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was feeling anxious about her future, when she met Ohno at a cryptocurrency study group. A friend’s husband introduced her, saying, “There’s an amazing teacher who practices divine rituals. His power has turned my life around.” They first met on November 27, 2022, at a restaurant in a luxury hotel in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

From their first meeting, Ohno told the woman: “The energy that accumulates in your uterus strongly influences your luck. Your uterus’s aura appears black. You’re receiving the energy of a bad man. This must be removed, and good energy must be brought in. While any psychic can remove bad energy, only I can bring in good energy.”

Her trust in Ohno, according to reports in the Bunshun, deepened after hearing stories of famous violinists and members of rock groups who had apparently achieved great success under Ohno’s guidance.

Later, she was summoned to a hotel room where Ohno declared: “Only I, who am connected to God, can do this. If you endure this ordeal here, you will only find happiness outside.”

The “training” that began this way was horrific. She was forced to drink urine, ordered to lick Ohno’s entire body, and ultimately subjected to sexual intercourse. Ohno remained expressionless throughout. This, ironically, made the woman believe that it was “training.”

“This completes one set of training,” Ohno told her. “Complete this set 1,000 times a year. By then, a different world will open up to you.”

The session ended after one o’clock in the morning. By then, the woman was totally under Ohno’s brainwashing spell and testified that she was filled with a sense of accomplishment, having “completed the ordeal.” The double trap of skillful words and the trust she had gained from those around her completely robbed her of her judgment.

She began to lose trust in Ohno in January 2023. When she attempted oral sex, she noticed a dried-up white fluid clinging to his penis. “Is this the bodily fluids of the previous woman?” she asked. Ohno replied, “It might be. Close your eyes and lick it.”

Shocked by having licked another woman’s bodily fluids, she rapidly lost her motivation for the training. She only realized what she had been doing after a fellow cryptocurrency study group member pointed out that it was a crime.

She later learned that the wife of the person who introduced him to her had also suffered similar abuse. When the wife consulted Ohno about wanting children, she was told, “Connect with me, who is connected to God,” and was subjected to repeated “training” involving drinking urine and sexual acts. Her diary entry reads, “I want to tell myself I did well. I believe in my teacher,” suggesting she was in a state where she couldn’t suspect anything at the time.

The two women consulted a lawyer and filed a police report with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Ohno was arrested in August 2023.

At the initial hearing of the trial, which began in August 2025 at Tokyo District Court, the Ohno completely denied the charges, stating that “there was no physical contact” and “no sexual intercourse.” In his final statement in May 2026, he asserted, “She was the one who asked for it. That’s the reality.”

However, the judge did not believe him, stating: “Taking advantage of her desperate desires and anxieties, the defendant repeatedly engaged in sexual acts, causing her great pain and trauma, and his criminal responsibility is heavy.” Ohno was found guilty and sentenced to eight years in prison.
