Porn star Natsu Hinata provokes anger (and misunderstanding) over train carriage pictures

Japanese porn star Natsu Hinata has found herself at the center of a social media storm after she uploaded pictures of herself climbing and then lying on top of the metal overhead rack of a train carriage.

She posted the photos on January 17 and 18 on her X account. In the images, she is smiling and enjoying herself while dressed in a schoolgirl costume. The train carriage is empty.

Careful observers will note that the carriage interior seems strangely subdued for a Japanese train, plus the windows are covered in sheeting so you can’t see outside. There are very few ads on the walls and, while they resemble actual ads seen in carriages, even these are fake. The photos are from a studio being used to shoot an adult video. Another possibility is a love hotel (there are train-themed rooms at some).

In the near future, Hinata will be releasing an AV in which she plays a schoolgirl on a train. Such AVs normally involve a chikan groping fantasy.

Nonetheless, many netizens jumped to the wrong conclusion and wrote angry replies accusing Hinata of misbehaving on public transport. It all helped the two images go viral. At the time of writing, the first picture has been viewed over 4.2 million times on X alone.

It might seem strange that such a minor prank would cause controversy, but it comes at a point when Japan is flooded with foreign tourists, some of whom are not always well behaved. Recent years have seen social media flooded with pictures and videos of tourists doing silly stuff at shrines and temples, and other sightseeing spots. It has made people very sensitive toward supposed acts of disrespect done for clicks and clout.

Perhaps the controversy reveals more about current levels of media literacy and how outrage has become the default response in the social media age. Before chiming in with a “Oh, young people these days” comment, it’s best to look properly at the images.

Natsu Hinata is 24 years old and made her debut in 2021. She is known for her cute girl-next-door face and slinky body.
