Former flight attendant and comedian Crazy Coco confesses: “I haven’t been to a love hotel in seven years”
We all know the image of flight attendants: they’re hot and sexy, and have got men eating out of their hands. But stereotypes are one thing and reality is quite another.
The comedian Crazy Coco used to work at a flight attendant for a foreign airline. While she probably had more than a few dalliances with hunky pilots and swanky execs flying in first class during her career, it seems that romance has been a rare thing in recent years.
On an edition of TV Asahi’s The Hell I Loved that aired late at night on November 20, Crazy Coco confessed the sad state of her love life.
During a segment of the show called “My True Feelings Are in Bed,” participants spoke frankly while sitting in bed at a love hotel. Crazy Coco revealed, “The last time I went to a love hotel was seven years ago — in Uguisudani.”
This is the district of northeast Tokyo near Ueno and Nippori that is packed with small and somewhat sordid love hotels.
She went on, “I joined [the comedy agency] Yoshimoto in 2022, but since then I haven’t had any contact with anyone, and I haven’t had any romantic relationships or dates. But I 2,000% want to get married.”
As to why she hasn’t had much luck in the romance or sex department of later, she blamed her looks. “I don’t have any sex appeal or anything like that.”
Her fellow guests tried to argue against this logic, but Crazy Coco was adamant. “If I was sexy, I’d be more popular with men.”
But it could be that the 39-year-old has quite high expectations for a prospective husband in terms of income and a willingness to live abroad, perhaps cultivated by her years spent in Australia and then as a member of the cabin crew for Emirates, where she must have mixed with some big spenders.
“There are a few conditions I can’t compromise on. First of all, I really don’t want a man who isn’t interested in going abroad. Our values wouldn’t match. When it comes to marriage, if my child says, ‘I want to go to university in the UK for four years,’ I want to have the income to make that happen. If you do the math, it comes down to over ¥20 million. It’s not that I want to buy brand-name things or live lavishly, but when it comes to marriage, I want to leave my children with plenty of options for when they start their own family. That’s not easy, is it?”
Crazy Coco is firmly in jukujo territory now, which has its own benefits when it comes to attracting a man, but she had better hurry up and snare someone if she’s serious about starting a family.
