Mother-of-one Saaya makes gravure comeback
The former gravure idol Saaya has made a comeback to the industry at the age of 31.
In recent years Saaya (whose full name is Saaya Irie) has worked outside gravure, but this years marks her 20th anniversary in the entertainment industry (she started modeling when she was just 11!) and she is commemorating the milestone with an appearance in the current issues of Weekly Playboy, which went on sale on October 6.
An industry staple for many years, Saaya is known for her sweet girl-next-door looks, though a semi-nude shoot she did in the mid-2010s did a lot to increase her mature allure.
She married in 2022 and moved to Hiroshima, and subsequently to Kitakyushu, where she is raising her child. The career shift began in 2018, when she left her former agency to go freelance. After releasing dozens of photo books and DVDs, as well as making regular acting appearance in movies and TV dramas, in the 2000s and 2010s, her career in gravure was winding down. We’re not sure if she ever officially retired but she had effectively stopped doing gravure in the 2020s.
In her shoot for Weekly Playboy, Saaya showcases her newfound wifely and young mother charms. Imagine coming home from work to this lovely lady in the kitchen, cooking you up a feast!
She has also released a tie-in digital photo book called Always, More, More, so let’s hope it’s a success and she continues her comeback with further shoots.
The issue of Weekly Playboy features a cover shoot with another lady who has enjoyed long-term success in the industry: the stunning 37-year-old voice actress Yuka Iguchi, whose career has entered a whole new stage in her late thirties with her frequent shoots featuring her toned and athletic body.

Actually, Saaya has released her digital photo book on Weekly Playboy called “My Heart is Always Like a (little) Girl” in 2023

That must have passed us by! The last major (print) photo book she did seems to be way back in 2015, which was the famous semi-nude one for Kodansha.
