Two Tokyo women arrested for extorting Shizuoka man after threesome hookup

Two Japanese women in their thirties have been arrested for defrauding a Shizuoka man of ¥900,000 in cash after they met him on a dating app.

The two women, who are both in their early thirties, persuaded the man (also in his thirties) that they needed the money for hospital fees.

The women, unnamed in media reports are aged 34 and 31, and live in Chuo ward and Shinjuku’s Okubo district in Tokyo.

Police suspect the pair of engaging in badger game to cheat him of money between May 22 and May 24 last year, claiming the money was for hospital fees (presumably to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases and infections, etc.).

According to police, the women first met the man in person on May 22 in a love hotel in Shizuoka, where they had sex with him.

During the act, the women suddenly claimed that the condom had come off. They demanded cash from the man, who dutifully coughed up what he had and left.

However, the women weren’t satisfied with that: later that day and once more on May 24, they demanded more money from the man, nominally so that they could go to a clinic. In all, he paid them ¥900,000.

The man suspected he had been conned when the women subsequently blew him off with excuses that prevented them from meeting again. He went to the police in June and filed a complaint.

The police could eventually deduce the identity of the pair from the exchanges they had with the man on the dating app, leading to their recent arrest. Both deny the charge and claim not to remember what happened last year.

It seems that the man knew he was meeting both women and was expecting a threesome or similar kind of tryst.

It is being reported in the media as a variation on the classic badger game extortion trick, though police are surprised that the two women would travel from Tokyo to Shizuoka to engage in the scheme. They are investigating if the pair have made other such “expeditions” and been involved in similar extortion attempts.
