Exploring vintage Japanese outdoor sex voyeur fetish photo shoots
The ever-reliable and diligent fintan (pinakotheca) has done it again.
He assiduously seeks out old erotic art and photography books, buys them, scans them, resells the books, and then shares select highlights online. Whether due to personal preference or the quality of the material, he frequently features Japanese publications.
After our previous showcase of some of these last month, we cannot resist another set of images from obscure 1980s Japanese voyeur photography books and magazines.
If you’re into voyeur fetish stuff or even a practicing Peeping Tom, this is surely pure catnip. There’s outdoor sex (roshutsu exhibitionism fetish) galore.
Of course, the rural shoots are fully staged with models in semi-remote locations but their grainy texture and pseudo-legal vibe only adds to their charm. This kind of photography is known locally as tosatsu (literally, “stolen photography”) and the term covers both genuine and staged content. The late Showa years in Japan clearly had a vibrant voyeurism subculture.
These two pics recall the pathbreaking work of Kohei Yoshiyuki.
There’s bonus lesbian content too.
Genitalia is, unfortunately, censored, as is common in Japanese publications to avoid prosecution for obscenity (hence the pixellation in Japanese porn videos today). The censored faces in some shots further accentuate the sense of these shoots’ fuzzy legality.
This nurse-themed outdoor shoot is from an unnamed 1970s publication, supposedly showing some lovemaking in the garden of a hospital in Chiba on an early December day. It’s the kind of medical examination we can only dream of receiving.
This time, fintan did not provide details on photographers and publication names, but be sure to follow him for more of the same.
