Top porn star Yua Mikami launches apparel brand
Yua Mikami, one of the top porn stars, has launched her own apparel brand.
Though there are a few notable cases of porn stars forging interesting second careers after they leave the adult industry, it is relatively rare for actresses to maintain a successful second job while still acting in porn releases (though many porn stars do make occasional appearances in movies and TV series, almost always in “sexy” roles).
Mikami is one of the most prominent examples of an idol switching from a more mainstream area (in her case, as a music idol with SKE48) to porn, and not losing steam after just a few releases.
On top of that, the 27-year-old has now launched her own apparel line, miyour’s. The first products already sold out during initial sales in February, as she explained in an interview with top online fashion media WWD Japan.
Mikami is also an active influencer on social media, with millions of followers across her platforms on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. A savvy lady indeed, who has shown how someone can navigate from the murky and often exploitative world of the Japanese idol industry to the also often murky and exploitative world of porn, and still come out on top.
In addition, she has kept one foot in music by forming a new idol group, Honey Popcorn, in 2018, and also performing with Ebisuā Muscats from 2016 to 2017.
Don’t worry, Mikami isn’t leaving porn behind just yet. She has several releases from S1 No.1 Style scheduled for March.
