Post-scandal Angelica Michibata divorces husband

We recently wrote about Urara Uraraka’s new “maternity nude” photo book, citing the precedent for such pregnancy shoots in Japan among celebrities and idols. One of the examples we mentioned was Angelica Michibata, who posed for a fairly modest (technically non-nude) one in 2018.

Now Angelica Michibata is back in the news with reports that she has divorced her husband, whom she married in late 2017 after she fell pregnant.

This is a big deal only because it would seem to bring to an end an unfortunate — to say the least — chapter of her life in which her ex-husband was arrested for extortion in 2019. She was present during the alleged extortion incident and it was implied she was involved as a kind of honey trap. No charges were brought but she suspended her activities.

The biracial (half-Argentine, half-Japanese) model attempted a comeback last year with a nude photo book. This was not her first nude shoot but her most explicit to date, generously showing off her butt and post-pregnancy breasts and nipples.

Now on the cusp of turning 36, Angelica is the sister of Jessica Michibata, another model who has had a colorful personal life. Hopefully, this latest development means that Angelica can draw a line in the sand and return more regularly to our lives.
