It’s never clear how much is true and how much is a cultivated personality, though.
Her recently released film Helter-Skelter contains some glimpses of the real Erika, by which we mean her flesh!
It’s pretty tame by many people’s standards, especially Korean actresses’, but it’s still a nice way to start your day.
Saying that, apparently during the making of the film they had a lot of trouble extracting a convincing performance from Erika. During the sex scenes she is supposed to have come across as very wooden, almost as if she had no idea what she was doing.
Could she really be this inexperienced? This frigid? “She’s really bad at sex,” was what the crew are alleged to have said!
Apparently all she could do to “act” being seduced was just groan a bit.
So much for a powerful sex icon.
She’s back. The stuck-up pouty lady. The sexy haafu. The one and only, Erika Sawajiri has returned to acting. After her singing career could have hardly have been called a success, Erika has decided to go back to something she was quite good at.
It’s not quite her glory days of yore, when she was offered major acting roles but it’s a (re)start. Her new drama will be shown on the mobile phone television channel, Bee TV, marking her first acting role in four years after her ignominious exit from the Japanese entertainment world.
The drama tells the story of two characters with contrasting personalities of the same woman (pictured above). Both parts are played by Erika, a lady not unfamiliar with mood swings herself!
Sometimes it seems that every TV show and every advertisement in Japan features a haafu (half-Japanese, half something else person).
Well, yes, but a lot of these are fairly banal, plain people whose only real talent is having slightly larger eyes and more ambiguous skin. However, I want to introduce you to the haafu who put the “sex” back into “sexy”.
Drum roll please. We now present The Top Sexiest Haafu Ladies!
Melody Yoko (b. 1988)
Half Irish American. Not sure if she is a model, actress, singer or what. But she looks damned fine.
Erika Sawajiri (b. 1986)
The most mis-behaved celebrity and stuck-up lady in the land.
Maria Ozawa (b. 1986)
The top porn star in Japan. Half Canadian. She has her own masturbator. Need we say more?
Jun Hasegawa (b. 1986)
Born in America and her pa is an Indian American (not American Indian, if you see what I mean).
Jessica Michibata (b. 1984)
Half-Argentinian and girlfriend of a F1 driver. Lucky bastard. The good news is she has sisters.
Crystal Takigawa (b. 1977)
The thinking man’s crumpet.
Meisa Kuroki (b. 1988)
Half Okinawan, half
Brazilian South American something: Meisa has a dark streak that we love.
Kiko Mizuhara (b. 1990)
Not sure if she qualifies as haafu as her parents are America and Korean-Japanese (Zainichi), Kiko has lived in Japan much of her life and we aren’t complaining!
It was just the other day that we blogged about sexy singer Takako Uehara getting her knickers in a twist about being accused of mafia links.
Is any sexy celebrity in Japan safe from the shadow of the mob? It seems not. Now it’s the turn of Erika Sawajiri, long a troubled and tempestruous celebrity. Erika is still a mere sprig of a gal at 25 but has already retired from the entertainment industry and returned once. But now a magazine has dug up and published photos of an 18-year old Erika in a Roppongi club with an allegedly yakuza-connected guy.
Half French, half Japanese, Erika was also pictured in the VIP room with the suspicious character alongside sexy celebrity Mayuki Iwasa. Now THAT would have been a sweet threesome.
No stranger to publicity stunts, Erika has also been revealing an ironic side with a recent TV commercial pocking fun at her tantrums and stroppy personality.
Now we find this video of the photo session — which is even sexier! And there’s not just one foreign man but multiple ones.
It had over 700 thousand views when I looked…and I can see why!
A favorite of this blog, Erika Sawajiri’s latest publicity stunt is a photo session featuring the hattoushin bijin semi-nude…and with a foreign man no less!
Personally I think he looks Japanese but the news is all saying it’s a gaijin (foreigner). Either way, is Erika the most over-rated idol in Japan or what?!
Saturday was another big day for our favorite starlet of the moment, Erika Sawajiri.
She performed a new song, her first gig in over two and a half years. “Treasure” is an upcoming release and Erika (24) showcased it at the Girls Award 2010.
Apparently available for free download from the actress/model/singer’s website until the end of this month, we haven’t actually heard the tune ourselves. However, we have been getting an eyeful of the clothes she was wearing…and I think you’ll agree that she chose her costume wisely!
Clearly she is going all-out for attention and shock-value! But there are no complaints from us.

Anyway even remotely interested in Japanese geinoujin or models can’t have failed to see the big news this week: Erika Sawajiri has told her much-older husband that she wants a divorce. By email.
Yes, apparently Tsuyoshi Takashiro is completely stumped as to why his beautiful wife has suddenly had a change of heart. He heard it first by email and since then has been getting updates through her website announcements and the press.
We blogged here about Erika’s comeback a few weeks ago. Half-French Erika had legions of fans until her pride got the better of her, most infamously at a press conference for the film Closed Note where she only responded “Betsu ni” (別に, “not much”) to questions.
Erika (24) married “media creator” (=”not real job but earns lots of money”) Tsuyoshi Takashiro (45), despite the massive age difference, to the delight of the media, the outcry of her male fans — and the subsequent collapse of her career. Now she’s back in the biz and you would thing was looking to avoid scandal. Aparrently not!
There’s a part of me that simply suspects the whole thing is a publicity scam, though Erika has been making some public appearances since the news broke — and notably sans wedding ring. Her hubbie, on the other hand, has been telling news programs that he has no idea what is going on and she is not returning his calls.
Perhaps Erika met another man? Anyway, I knew it wouldn’t last…

One of my favorite idols, Erika Sawajiri, has returned to the world of Japanese entertainment (a.k.a. the geinoukai) after a oh-too-long absence of two and a half years!
Ever since she made that rather sulky press conference in 2007 for the film Closed Note (I actually thought she was rather sexy!) and earned the animosity of the nation, her career has been on a disappointingly downward trajectory.
Well, now she’s back, with a new “taido” (attitude) and keen to get into what she did so brilliantly before: cute photos, TV commercials, the occasionally melodramatic drama series and more! Oh, my right hand has been Erika-idle these two years and I can feel it flexing up already.
Erika took the customary deep bow of apology at a recent press conference, before announcing her return project: a TV ad for Takano Yuri, featuring her in “clothing” that gives new meaning to “scantily clad”! As you can see from the pics below, this is one hell of a comeback!
Twenty-three year-old Erika, half Algerian French, half Japanese, is known for her rather large ego, earning her the moniker Erika-sama (“sama” is a form of address saved for the Imperial Family). Last year her talent agency canceled her contract and she has had to start up on her own (currently based out of Spain, which sounds too far away for our liking). She is also a great example of “Yaeba” (snaggletooth) idols, discussed on this blog some moons ago.
