Take your virtual girlfriend on summer vacation

Remember when Tadashi blogged about Love Plus coming out on the iPhone and all the touch-screen fun it gives you?

Well, now you can go one step further!

We heard from Kotaku that Konami is now hoping to merge the digital and physical worlds even more, by offering summer holidays to Atami in Shizuoka. Atami is “of course” where the game is set! Even the hotel where you stay is the same as the game!

Otaku vacationeers get on the “love” bus in Tokyo and then go down to Atami to spend time with their SIM girlfriends. If you have the iPhone app you can then go around and see places that feature in the game, plus even take your pic with your lady! Who says romance is dead?

Then of course you can retire to your hotel room and, though your digital gal won’t be able to comfort you much, there are plenty of other pillows and substitutes to fill that need!

If you want to take part you will have to hurry — numbers are strictly limited to 40!

Evangelion statue is sadly not nude Ayanami Rei

You might have heard about the huge Evangelion statue to land at Fuji Q High Land in July.

It will stand 9 meters high and 16 meters wide. Construction costs are said to be 1.5 billion yen ($16.2 million)! It’s gonna have to attract a lot of anime fans to make up those overheads.

Unfortunately, though, the Fuji Q is for the Unit 01 (初機号), not the lovely Ayanami Rei. What a better statue that would have made!

There has also recently been an Evangelion-themed Lawson’s in Hakone that had to be canceled, so immense was the crush from anxious otaku fans to get inside! Maybe Fuji Q will make its money back in the end!

What’s all the fuss about Evangelion? Well, a lot of it is stemming from the very sexy Ayanami Rei. The new Evangelion DVD might be relegated in the adult section due to a particularly risque scene involving Ayanami. It isn’t released till later this month, so if you’re a fan, you’ll just have to wait a bit longer, wherever it will be finally be located in Tsutaya.

Taro says that he would only go to Fuji Q if they made a statue of busty idol Yuri Morishita (森下悠里) dressed up as Ayanami in a sailor school girl uniform! I can see why!

Dating SIM game Love Plus on your iPhone

Any self-respecting otaku or anime-lover will have heard of Konami’s Love Plus.

It’s a virtual dating SIM game for the DS. Players can choose one of three girls (Aika Takamine, Rinko Kobayakawa and Nene Anegasaki) and pursue a full relationship with them. You can speak to them through the DS’s microphone and even the touch-pad allows for some interaction.

It is even possible to sit down and communicate with other nearby DS players using the game through the wireless connection function.

Well, now there’s a iPhone and iPod app version.

This is even better than the DS version since you can take photos of yourself with your iPhone camera and use augmented reality to insert the SIM’s image into the photo.

If you’ve ever wanted to have that romantic — or sexy — photo of yourself getting close to your favorite anime girl…then this is the app for you.

Apparently you can use the touch screen to control the girl — and even her clothes! We suspect that you will like flipping up her skirt the most!

I was first motivated to get an iPhone when I heard about the anime girl Kanojo Camera app and, boy, am I glad I made that purchase now…
