Comiket 86 Photo Report!

August (and December) means only one thing if you’re a dojinshi or cosplay otaku in Japan: Comiket.

And so it was that Comiket 86 kicked off on Friday for a three-day bonanza of cosplay, otaku and clicking cameras. The internet has become replete with the shocking and scintillating pictures from the visitors, mostly taken outside the Odaiba venue as people, including professional cosplay models, posed and frolicked under the humid sun.

Here are some selections from the hot and sweaty images to be found on the Japanese web right now. Warning: contains extreme geekdom!

According to this person’s message on Twitter, they became friendly with one cosplayer and ended the day at a love hotel.

And this girl is telling the world that she is heading to Comiket the next day and is recruiting some people for gang bang. Any takers?

And for something a bit different, there were reports on Twitter of a sex doll being spotted at a very different cosplay event indeed — the right-wing nationalist gathering at Yasukuni Shrine on Friday, August 15th, marking the anniversary of Japan’s defeat in WW2.
