Deai site teenagers pimped out to 1,500 men by ex-host

A man has been arrested for pimping out teenaged girls via a deai internet website. So-called deai sites (“encounter” websites) are portals for meeting up with young ladies, often platforms for enjo kosai (dates with cash rewards) or open prostitution.

This time one man was calling the shots and had several underage girls on the site working for him. Atsuo Yoshinari (27) was a former host living in Shinjuku who, along with his two fellow arrested chums, admits the charges of prostituting a 17-year old girl. The fatal incident came in a love hotel in north Tokyo in June where the teenager was paid 20,000 yen (about $260) by a 41-year old company employee to have sex.

The police estimate that Yoshinari and co have prostituted out multiple girls under 25 from September last year to October this year to some 1,500 men! Each time the fee was around 20,000 yen, with sales of around 30 million yen (nearly $400,000). Hey, when your economy’s in recession, shouldn’t this kind if industry be praised?!

The problem came when the central girl’s mother became suspicious and found out in June, thus bringing to an end the promising financial enterprise.

The reason why Yoshinari will likely be jailed, though, is not so much that what he did was “wrong” in Japan but because he wasn’t registered as a “delivery health” (a legal euphemism for a call girl service). If you register and no doubt also pay off the yakuza you are probably safe!
